Fixing the Fund is Only Half the Fight

Join us to learn about changes in the education budget allocation process and what to expect in the 2019 legislative session. We'll also discuss priorities for action as we advocate for improved education at the state and county level.

With more that $500 Million up for grabs, it's critical that we strongly advocate for the funds to go where they are needed to best serve our students.

Our Guest Speaker, Doug Prouty, serves as the Vice President of the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA).  He is in his 23rd year with Montgomery County Public Schools and most recently taught English at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville. He's held leadership positions in the Montgomery County Education Association and MSEQA for nearly two decades, and has testified, advised, and advocated on public education matters in Rockville and Annapolis.

Our newly elected state legislators have the responsibility to figure out a new formula for allocating education dollars across the state.  It's up to us to help them decide how best to spend those funds.  We'll close the evening by beginning the discussion on where we put our energy as an organization to advocate for education issues at a state and county level.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
